How to get yourself booked into a show 101

Promoting yourself is hard. Often you will find online castings and requests for artists made by bookers and agents. They often specify what they are looking for such as discipline, necessary papers and how to respond to the call.

If it states that they want a reply via PM, private message or by email, this is exactly what they want you to do. However, there are a lot of people that reply in a message under the call with just a simple photo or Youtube video and hope they get a serious response. Probably you are not getting any response and in many cases you will never get a response afterward simply because you did not meet the questions asked. You actually even diminished your chances on getting future bookings from that agent.

Getting booked is hard work, maybe even harder than training and working your act.

Bookers are keen to receive their applications in a certain format:

  • Your introduction and your offer
  • A maximum of 3 booking options (if you have more to offer; mention that you can tell them more if they contact you)
  • Your contact details
  • 3 high-resolution photo’s
  • A 1-minute teaser video (have a good -full- length recording to send afterward if asked).
